I've always been a fan of the 19th century novel, of the novel that is
plotted, character-driven, and where the passage of time is almost as
central to the novel as a major minor character, the passage of time and its
effect on the characters in the story.
~John Irving |

This was an absorbing read

the ebb and flow of a symphonic opera, building to an incredible finale. I

The Novel Approach
Carole Cummings has just joined a short list
of authors who, when I read their work for the first time, I knew I
was onto something kind of special, authors who put their personal
stamps of ownership upon the sub-genres in which they write, as I
was left in jaw dropping wonder at the skill and finesse with which
she wielded her words, threading the loom, each chapter a slow and
enticing revelation, until finally the entire picture could be seen,
and it was stunning.

Oh, my freaking God... put
down whatever you are doing, get this book and read your little hearts out.
This type of book is the reason why I love fantasy so much, the pure joy of
the imagination, the complete world building and the mysterious characters
that all have their own stories.

Top 2 Bottom Reviews
Wolf’s-Own: Ghost is just
the beginning of what promises to be an epic adventure of danger and
betrayal, of mistrust and abuse of trust. This is the story of men and women
who play their parts in the manipulations and machinations between the gods
and their children, the Ancestors and the Untouchable, and the Blood magic
they use to control and to sacrifice, for sinister and secretive purposes.

The Queen’s Librarian is a fantasy novel complete
with magical creatures, royalty and intrigue. It is light and humorous with
a steady stream of witty banter among the characters.

The Novel Approach
Just when we’d gotten used to Carole Cummings’
spectacular brand of darkly atmospheric fantasy, she has broken form with
The Queen’s Librarian, and I must say that the difference is most
definitely delectable.

Amazing Stories
Magazine
Blue on Black by Carole
Cummings ... is a fresh new take on the Steampunk genre, combining
imaginative technology with mind twisting mystery and adventure. A character
driven story, there’s plenty here for readers to enjoy.
The Novel Approach
Everything in this novel is layered—the colors, the
characters, the setting, the Tech, the grandiose scheme which has brought
the outlier Stanslo’s Bridge and its robber baron, Petra Stanslo, to the
attention of the Directorate—with a subtlety that makes you look just that
little bit deeper to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

BA Brock for Queer SciFi

reread it and catch everyone in their lies.

What a ride! Blue on
Black is another fantastic novel by Carole Cummings and one that
keeps the reader desperately trying to keep up as it twists and turns to a
blinding conclusion.

It's About the Book
This book is absolutely one
of my favorites of 2015. It’s full of danger and intrigue. Amazing world
building that’s unlike anything I’ve ever read before. A tumultuous but
gripping love story. Crazy characters I loved and hated. Action packed.
Creatures. Those fucking spiders! I can’t help but think this book was kind
of like a western flavored Mad Max. Arrrghhh…there’s really no way to sum up
all that this story is. What I do know is it is AWESOME! I freaking loved
it. I absolutely recommend it.

Binge on Books
If you’re a reader
looking for sci-fi with elements of fantasy and steam punk, in a world

be, this is the one for you.

Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words
I am often at a loss as to
how to categorize a Carole Cummings novel. Sometimes its fantasy, or
alternate universe, or steampunk or a bit of all of those. But no matter
how you want to classify them, the fact remains that Carole Cummings is
one of the most inventive, imaginative storytellers out there.

Guardian and the subsequent novels of the
trilogy are not for the faint of heart. They are complex
and layered and at times maddening in their confusion.
Patience untangles it all and the reward is an amazing
story of survival and devotion between two men who have
been chosen to save the world.

Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words
Just
outstanding! From the incredible world building to the
nuanced characters full of anguished pasts and
unimaginable pain to a present [that] comes with a slow
buildup of suspense and a flight of terror against
faceless enemies, this story is one you cannot put down.

And once again I am prisoner to
my Kindle, slave to my inability to read without
succumbing to that pesky need to sleep, obsessing over
two characters who’ve robbed me of my ability to put
into words how neatly they’ve overtaken my insatiable
need to know every minute detail about who they are,
where they’ve been, and where they will go.

Wil and
Dallin are both captivating characters and absolutely
engaging.

Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words
There is
no one element or section here I can highlight. It’s
all equally fantastic. Characters are beautifully
created. I believe in them and their relationships.
Fear for their futures. The evil here is horrific and
about to deepen with the last story. The gods and
aspects of religion the author has devised is stunning
in its originality. How this will play out for Wil and
Dallin in book three, Beloved Son,
is something I can’t wait to read when it’s released in
December.

Rainbow Reviews
The
writing is starkly beautiful through and through, and I
couldn't recommend Aisling 2: Dream any higher.
Dark Divas
Dream is a book of
reversals – what was a flight and pursuit becomes a
pilgrimage of sorts, what were enemies become something
both more and less than friends and lovers, fear becomes
trust, and yes, trust does become doubt. By the end of
the book, very little is as it started, and the changes
are perfectly plotted and in character.

Cryselle's Bookshelf
Simple actions and wishes
become astonishing in her descriptions – the words are
the words of English but the stringing together is –
magic.

The Novel Approach
I wish there were a word in the
English language that meant something bigger than love,
a word that meant something grander than epic, a word
that meant something greater than extraordinary.
Extralovepicary. There. If you
can’t come up with the appropriate word, sometimes you
just have to make one up. Aisling Book Two: Dream
is extralovepicary. It is transcendent,
monumental, unequivocally one of the finest books I’ve
ever experienced and a significant layer added to the
already complex foundation that is this series.

This sweeping epic
left me breathlessly turning pages and, as with the other two
installments, I lost sleep to read.
The Novel Approach
This series has been a
masterpiece in the making, a wonder to behold, and I am in utter awe of it.
Each word, each sentence that has been threaded and woven to form the
tapestry was selected with the utmost care and attention to detail. It is at
once ethereal and aesthetic, a feast for the imagination and a wholly
sensory experience.

Carole Cummings
has presented a sweeping dénouement to her stunning

completes all the story arcs that have been building to
give [us] a monumental tale of men, gods, love, and oh
yeah, saving the world, too.

Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words
In 32 pages, Cummings
gives us detailed office politics, sparkling
personalities, an hilarious and kinky married couple,
the place of pheromones within the culture, world
building, and the start of a wonderful romance.
Honestly, I didn’t want it to end.

If you like creative, imaginative worlds, if
you think the North Pole could be quite different from what some have led us

for a highly entertaining read that will make you smile and could have you
imagining all sorts of consequences, then you will probably like this short
story as much as I do. I think it’s absolutely wonderful!
